2013-08-06 SteveStarks 003 (2)Steve Starks is originally from Indianapolis, graduated from Marian University in Indianapolis, and since 1989 has lived in Lafayette with his wife, Rosie. Steve and Rosie have seven grown children and 11 grandchildren, all of whom live in Indiana. Rosie works in the Purdue Theater Department. They are parishioners of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette.

Throughout his professional career, Steve has worked with various churches in Indiana and Michigan. For 15 years, he was the outside sales associate at the Carpenter’s Son until it closed in 2009.

Steve is overjoyed to be a part of the Pantry Team. Becoming the new director to him is “a gift.” Steve shared that this is a way for him “to live out the Gospel.” He recognizes that the St. John’s/LUM Food Pantry is very well run and is committed to maintaining that excellence. Steve most looks forward to serving the clientele and creating a welcoming and respectful environment that strives to treat all with dignity. He is excited to be a part of the team and begin having a positive impact on the community through his work. The St. John’s/LUM Food Pantry is fortunate to have Steve join the staff.

St. John’s/LUM Food Pantry provides emergency food assistance to hungry children and adults who live in Tippecanoe County. St.2013-08-06 SteveStarks 010 (2) John’s/LUM Food Pantry is the largest volume food pantry in the 26 counties of west central Indiana.

So far in 2013, 4960 clients were served which is equivalent to assisting 15,295 individual family members.


Pantry Needs and How to Help


The St. John’s/LUM Food Pantry relies on individuals to donate food and make monetary donations.

Please bring your donations directly to the Food Pantry which is in St. John’s Episcopal Church on the corner of 6th and Ferry Streets in downtown Lafayette during their operating hours –- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.

Look for the Red door under the Green awning on 6th.
